When I am not at work, I am either learning or exploring something new (or both)! I enjoy the outdoors and partake in skiing, hiking, rafting, and plenty of other activities that get me outside. I also find crafting very fulfilling and have taken on chainmaille lately, creating full dresses out of little metal rings carefully bent into place together.Â
I am always learning, be it a spontaneous book checked out from the library or an internet deep dive, I make it a goal to learn about a new topic every week. I aim to read a few books each month on top of that because I am an avid reader with a mile long book list to get through. It somehow never seems to get shorter, though.

Taking Big Leaps
I recently took a rather large leap and went to the APA 2026 conference in Washington D.C.: quite a ways away from my home in California. The APA conference is aimed at psychology professionals who have Doctorate degrees or are on track to have one. There is booth after booth of companies offering services for therapists to offer their clients. There isn't a lot for someone who got her BA and jumped right into work. I decided to go because there were many interesting sessions and CE opportunities, but also to see what networking I could do. I definitely got treated a little differently by some when they realized I wasn't the "big fish" they were seeking, but I persisted. I met so many amazing people at APA 2026, made so many connections, and had a great time. Even though I "only" have a BA in psychology.
I would make that leap again, and I continue to make big leaps like that for the betterment of my career and my client's lives.
