Long-Term Substitute

Overview

While in the role of long-term substitute for grades 6-8, I provided consistent instruction adapted to meet students where they were, taught core classroom leadership concepts, and ensured students had social-emotional support from the very first day of school. I fostered a structured and inclusive environment that encouraged student independence while still meeting each student's diverse academic and behavioral needs.

Core Responsibilities

  • Deliver daily instruction in math, science, and homeroom to grades 6-8 and maintain learning continuity and classroom routines

  • Adapt curriculum, instructional strategies, and classroom environment to accommodate many diverse learners and those with behavioral or social-emotional needs

  • Create a safe climate through proactive behavior management, rapport-building, and restorative practices

  • Support the emotional well-being of 6th grade students transitioning into middle school scheduling as needed

  • Designed age appropriate SEL-centered lessons

Math Interventionist

Overview

As a math interventionist, I created customized, California standards-aligned instruction for 3rd-8th grade students performing below grade level. Using targeted assessments and ongoing progress monitoring, I built tailored lesson plans and communicated progress weekly with caregivers and teachers.

Core Responsibilities

  • Created personalized math curricula for up to 7 students per session

  • Integrated real-time STAR data and teacher insight into lesson planning

  • Delivered both pull-out and push-in support

  • Collaborated with families weekly for at-home learning continuity

  • Adapted lessons to meet neurodivergent and trauma-impacted learning needs

Mental Health Technician 

Overview

I was assigned to a Tier 3 Counseling-Enriched Classroom serving students with high emotional and behavioral needs. I was responsible for de-escalation, physical safety, therapeutic rapport, and creating lessons across core academic subjects infused with Social Emotional Learning content.

Core Responsibilities

  • Maintained classroom safety in extreme crisis conditions

  • Wrote and submitted daily behavioral logs and IEP data

  • Embedded SEL into science, math, history, and literature

  • Collaborated with the classroom's therapist of record to update guardians and the district on student status

  • Participated in mandated reporting, CPS documentation, and case monitoring

Behavioral Housing Technician 

Overview

I supported formerly unhoused adults, many with active mental health, substance use, or hoarding challenges, through a mandated relocation process. I safely transitioned residents to newly renovated units with compassion, empathy, adaptability, and documentation rigor. 

Core Responsibilities

  • Packed and relocated 1 resident/day in hazardous and emotionally charged environments

  • Rapid rapport building to support resistant or vulnerable residents

  • Daily written reports submitted to supervisors and city officials

  • De-escalated threats of violence and supported residents in acute emotional states

  • Trained staff on trauma-informed behavioral management

Behavior Technician 

Overview

At an ABA clinic, I provided direct support using evidence-based behavioral strategies for clients with diagnosed autism. I implemented BIPs, tracked data, de-escalated tantrums and aggression, and coached caregivers on reinforcement and redirection.

Core Responsibilities

  • Delivered 1:1 therapy aligned with client behavior plans

  • Collaborated with BCBAs to analyze and adjust intervention strategies

  • Coached parents during weekly debriefs

  • De-escalated high-intensity meltdowns using Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (CPI) and rapport based redirection

  • Documented every session using structured data tracking tools

Peer University Instructor 

Overview

I taught a university course on behavioral psychology and consent communication, emphasizing self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and healthy interpersonal boundaries. During the course of this experience, I secured sponsorships and coordinated expert guest speakers for the benefit of my students.

Core Responsibilities

  • Designed and taught a 10-week course independently

  • Created and facilitated engaging slide decks, group activities, and self-reflections

  • Cultivated a classroom culture rooted in emotional safety and respectful curiosity 

  • Managed outreach and collaboration with speakers, nonprofits, and product sponsors
